22,000 Pounds of Popular Bratwurst Recalled Just Before Grilling Season

Over 22,000 pounds of Johnsonville brand cheddar bratwurst have been recalled due to the detection of hard plastic in the products. This recall was prompted after the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service received two consumer complaints regarding hard plastic found in their bratwurst.

The recall specifically affects 19-ounce, sealed firm tray packages that contain five pieces of “Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst,” as stated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Consumers can also find the package code B9FOD on the label. These bratwurst were produced on February 5, 2025.

The recalled products were shipped to retailers in states including Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

If you have any of the affected products at home, it is strongly recommended that you do not consume them. You should either discard the products or return them to the retailer where they were purchased. No injuries have been reported related to this issue.

Consumers with inquiries about the recall can contact Amanda Fritsch, Consumer Relations Coordinator, at 1-888-556-2728.
