Cyberpunk 2077 Came With a Lot of Potential But Couldn’t Meet Most of Them

Cyberpunk 2077 was announced almost a decade ago– and in its interim period, we have had several other games that have rocked IGN. But the developer of Cyberpunk 2077 never budged in his decision to bring the game out only when it was ready. Unfortunately, even when the game has finally been released now- it doesn’t seem ready at all. The entirety of last year was anyway spent in a ‘death march’ crunch- with shifting deadlines again and again. And, even if we put aside the human cost involved in this project, the entire game still seems pretty shambolic. 

The Issues With Cyberpunk 2077

There is no denying that Cyberpunk 2077 has the possibility of being one of the best games ever, with its beautifully drawn characters. The game has ambition, it has a plot with momentum, depth, and layers. But the potential of the game is completely being underwhelmed by the tiny issues that rock the boat. One of the major problems that this game has faced is the apparent carelessness in fine-tuning- leaving behind some recurring bugs that turn this game into a conflict. There is much to be fixed and very little time at that. 

Nonetheless, Cyberpunk 2077 has been able to bring out the theme that CD Projekt tries to inculcate in all its games. With their trend in immersing their games with some grittier kinds of fiction- reminiscent of The Witcher series, this game seems to check those boxes. Cyberpunk 2077 follows Mike Pondsmith’s 1988 RPG Cyberpunk, which results in a far greater immersion. Also, this game presents the player with a far bigger choice in their actions, as well as the consequences of said actions.
