One of the shockers that came out of the AnTuTu Benchmark Test is that Qualcomm’s SnapDragon 865+ beat Apple A14 bionic chip that is supposed to power Apple’s latest iPad Air and the coming iPhone 12 models. 

Apple recently held an event online called Time Flies. They revealed their latest iPad and Apple Watch models. The one product that garnered the most attention was the tech giant’s latest iPad Air. The most recent iPad Air will be powered by Apple’s most anticipated A14 Bionic chip. 

Since the iPhone 12 is yet to launch, people have been speculating on the efficiency of the Apple A14 Bionic chip. If you are wondering how it will do in comparison to Samsung’s Exynos 990, which powers Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 models, and Qualcomm’s SnapDragon 865+, you don’t have to wonder any longer. A recent report on these chips has been released by AnTuTu, which shows that Qualcomm’s SnapDragon 865+ does much better than the Apple A14 Bionic chip.

Many tech enthusiasts have been disappointed by Apple A14’s performance because some feel like the anticipation and hype was more than it deserved.

If you look at the tweet remarking on Apple A14 and SnapDragon 865+’s performance, you will notice that it’s by Ice Universe. @UniverseIce is one of the most reliable sources on twitter on all matters related to tech. The account uploaded screenshots of the AnTuTu results comparing the Apple A14 Bionic chip and Qualcomm’s SnapDragon 865+. As we can see, the total benchmark score by iPhone 12 Max Pro (which is powered by Apple A14 Bionic chip) is only 572,333. And, comparing that score to Qualcomm’s SnapDragon 865+, which scored 629,245, it goes without saying that Apple has lost miserably. Qualcomm’s capacity was tested by the Asus ROG Phone 3, which SnapDragon 875+ powers. We have not been able to independently check the authenticity of the benchmark scores given to the iPhone Pro Max.

However, if we believe the AnTuTu scores, it’s a clear and very significant win for Qualcomm. If you have been following the snides and comments between Apple and Qualcomm, you must remember how Qualcomm has been losing to Apple’s chipset consistently over several years. This AnTuTu judgment has changed the chipset race direction. 

It has also been speculated that Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max could get lower scores as it was running on an early version of the A14 chipset. Maybe if the Apple A14 Bionic chip is paired to a more stable device, it will push out higher performance. The questions are many, and we will get all the answers soon as Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 12 in the next couple of weeks.

As per the tech giant, the Apple A14 Bionic chip will deliver a 40 percent higher performance than other chipsets.
