National Voter Registration Day

Today is National Voter Registration Day. As we move closer to the November presidential elections, excitement is abuzz across the country. With the coronavirus and the protests, it’s extremely important that you get your voice heard. Here’s everything you need to know about registering yourself for the upcoming general elections.

National Voter Registration Day

On this occasion, we will answer a few basic questions that you might have with regards to voting.

The last day to register to vote is on 19th October. You can visit registertovote.ca.gov. It only takes a couple of minutes. Or if you would like to fill out a physical form, call the number (800) 345-VOTE, and you will receive a registration form in no time. Furthermore, you can also visit your local public libraries, post offices, DMVs, or any government offices. You can ask for a registration form from there. After you fill it, simply send it to your local county office.

Did You Move Since The Last Election?

If you have moved since the last election, you need to re-register, unless you want to travel back to your old registered location. If you are in doubt, you can easily check what your status is just to be sure about it.

For Registered Voters

If you are already registered, you don’t need to re-register for the upcoming presidential elections. By the 5th of October, you will receive your mail-in ballot. However, if you wish to vote physically, you can always visit your local voting Center on the 24th of October. You should note that only select centers will be open on the 24th. However, on 30th October, all the voting centers across the country will remain open. Get to action on National Voter Registration Day!

Mail-In Ballots For Everyone Due To COVID-19 Pandemic

In California, Governor Newsom has mandated all counties to send Mail-in ballots to everyone due to the pandemic. However, if you wish to vote physically during the presidential elections, you can ignore the ballot. However, take it with you when you visit your voting Center and drop it there.

What If You Don’t Receive Your Ballot By The 5th Of October?

If this happens with you, it could very well mean that you have not been registered to vote. However, there might be a glitch in the system too. In situations like this, it’s always good to inform the county officials.

Can You Register Even After 19th October?

Yes, you can. Registration will be on up till the presidential elections. However, you will have to fill an additional provisional form. It’s also likely that your vote will be counted after the day of the election.

When Can You drop Your Mail-In Ballot?

After you receive yours, you can either wait till the 3rd of November or simply deposit it in the ballot drop-box or voting Center before Nov 3rd.

Ensure that your voice is heard during this presidential election on the National Voter Registration Day.
