People are looking for different new ways of connecting during the COVID-19 stay-at-home restrictions. The party may include 50 friends at a time in the app.

Facebook Watch Together

As you can see above in the sequence, users with Watch Together can easily select one from the videos, then broadcast it directly to all participants, giving a new way of engagement while people are physically separated.

Now, Facebook is including much more content to the listings of its Watch Together, by starting new deals with Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Warner Bros. to provide Facebook with their TV shows, movies, and more in the Watch Together options.

According to Facebook:

“Now people can tune in together, even if they’re not, and check out features like Fruitvale Station, Hairspray, and Reservoir Dogs, just to name a few, with hits like Madea’s Family Reunion, and Karate Kid coming soon. Or, maybe binge-watch a season of Community or Dawson’s Creek with your besties. And with Halloween coming up, get into the spooky spirit with selections like The Blair Witch Project, The Descent, or The Grudge 2.”

That may give a great increase to the option. Facebook didn’t provide any particular information on the new arrangements. However, you might be expecting that Facebook has an existed system to pay these providers to give this content to Watch Together. It may help maximize the total viewership and will make facebook promote itself.

As Watch is apparently not making a big impact in the digital video stakes, Facebook stated that over 1.25 billion people watch on Watch monthly. So, it has outlined recently a set of new and exclusive shows, and soon it will be available on Watch to maximize the engagement.

Watch Together grants a new avenue to promote these programs, and as there are more than 150 million video calls are being made on Messenger daily, it makes sense that Facebook seeks to try something new to increase the engagement and be in line with people’s interests. Especially when they are staying at home most of their time missing their friends and seek to stay connected with them in every possible way.

Also, from a business point of view. that is also a new option worth considering. You can create content designed especially for group parties, like baking instructional video or a sport session. Such ideas can boost the experience of Watch Together.
