The second CA stimulus check is almost on the way. But why did California decide on sending a second round? If the reason persists, then there might be a third one too for residents of California. But quite a few Republicans had been alarmed at the second one, so far.

The Reason Behind The Second CA Stimulus Check

Republicans argued that several state departments will be facing deficits while operating by the end of the budget year of 2023. However, in the previous week, the legislature of California passed a budget bill worth $262.6Bn. In it, funds were allocated for a second $600 stimulus check. It was possible because the state claimed to have a huge surplus in the budget along with a federal aid bundle for this year.

The legislation combines a budget bill proposed by Governor Gavin Newsom as well as a measure of the legislature. One of the biggest programs approved was an expansion worth $12Bn for the CA stimulus check. This will be sending direct payments worth $600. It will be applicable for residents in California who earn less than $75,000 as per their AGI.

Gavin Newsom believes that stimulus checks mean people get direct money which gives relief directly. The bill will also pay out $500 to families that have children. Families without documentation will be getting another $500.

Grants for small businesses were allocated almost $1.5Bn. This will allow small businesses to get a stimulus check between $25,000 and $5,000.

However, the reactions in the legislative differed. Most Democrats were of the opinion that it was a good step in creating a better future. Albeit, they admitted it was not meant to return everything to normal. Republicans, on the other hand, called it a publicity stunt. However, the dates will be settled after guidance from the leaders of the state.
