The online petition that was started in order to organize the demand for the recurring stimulus checks in the United States of America, has almost reached its goal. The “change.org” petition was started with a view to achieving at least 3 million supporters. It demands a total of 2000 USD monthly payments from the federal government. The petition was started by Stephanie Bonin, a restaurant owner from the state of Colorado, along with her husband.
Stimulus Checks’ Demand
On the 7th of August, the total signatures on the petition were 2,759,000. Joe Biden, the President of the country, approved a relief package related to the coronavirus pandemic. The total amount of the package was 1.9 trillion USD. Accordingly, it provided a total of 1,400 USD stimulus checks to each and every eligible citizen. It also provided an extension of the unemployment insurance supplement. Most people are not hopeful about the recurring stimulus checks despite the success of the online petition.
Brain Birnberg, a professor from one of the colleges based in the state of Manhattan, gave a statement on the demand for the recurring relief aid payments. He stated that it was just something that was taking place far from reality. The professor added that those who were demanding the money were not new to the demands.
They had voiced their demands even before the start of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, they did so throughout the pandemic, and they would demand it even if the pandemic got completely over. This statement was given by him in the past week. Meanwhile, a few lawmakers submitted a letter on the 7th of May, demanding the federal government to provide the stimulus checks to the people.
