An official 4th stimulus check issued by Congress may seem impossible now, but that does not mean there aren’t any. States have been doing all they can to ensure stimulus money from the federal government gets distributed. Biden’s American Rescue Plan had allotted states more than $200Bn collectively to ensure their economy recovers after the pandemic.
Check If You Will Get A Stimulus Check
States must finish distributing all their money before the year ends. As such, governors have already started sending stimulus checks to areas in their states which need them the most, according to them.
California is at the forefront of this. They are the only ones to send a check using their budget. The state budget of California was reported to have a surplus, mostly due to the unique system of taxation. There was enough money left over to send two rounds of stimulus checks worth $500 to $600 to those whose AGI is $30000 to $75000. Another extra $500 has been sent to families having dependent children.
Colorado is paying $375 to people who have received a minimum of 1 unemployment benefit from 15th March 2020 to 24th October 2020. However, workers with higher incomes will not be getting the payments.
A couple of months ago, legislation was passed in Maryland that would repeal all local and state taxation on benefits received due to unemployment. It also included direct stimulus checks worth $500 to families as well $300 to EITC filing individuals.
The state program for stimulus in New Mexico has set aside $5Mn for distribution to residents who had not been eligible for the stimulus checks from the feds. A $2.1Bn fund has been created in the state of New York for workers who are without documentation, and thus unable to receive stimulus checks from the federal government.
