The 2019 Miss Universe beauty pageant took place on Monday, May 27. One of the contestants representing El Salvador wore a bitcoin-themed costume that drew attention from attendees and online viewers alike.

A contestant in the 2019 Miss Universe beauty pageant represented El Salvador with a colorful costume inspired by Bitcoin. The dress was designed by Jose A. Palma and featured the cryptocurrency’s logo on both sides of the leggings, along with black fabric adorned with gold patterns.

Palma posted several photos of his creation on Instagram, writing: “Today I had the pleasure of dressing for #missuniverse2019 @_sophiaamandacruz_ to present our country #ElSalvador.”

The costume was described by one reporter as the most spectacular of the night. It was a Bitcoin-inspired gown made of fabric and feathers, designed by the contestant’s mother. The dress came complete with a silver tiara and had a train fit for any princess.

The contestant’s name is Karla Paz, who describes herself on her Instagram account as someone who likes “to sing, dance…and participate in beauty contests.” She is from El Salvador but currently lives in Guatemala City where she works at an insurance company.

The final question is: how many Miss Universe contestants will be able to identify themselves as crypto enthusiasts? The answer is still unknown, but thanks to the internet, we can at least hope that they will keep up with the trend.
