Amy (Duggar) King and Jill (Duggar) Dillard, the cousins, needed the support of the show’s production team, while they shared the truth about their family during the docuseries Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, produced by Amazon Prime.
A Lot Of Revelations In The Duggar Documentary
The limited series in four parts which was released on June 2nd, takes on the several scandal that the family of Duggars have been surrounded by. It also talks about the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), an organization based on radical religiosity.
Cori Shepherd, one of the producers of the documentary, exclusively revealed to a media outlet that it was extremely important to ensure 32-year-old Jill and 36-year-old Amy were comfortable while they were filming. Shepherd said that one of her company’s highlights is how they give a place where survivors can talk freely. She gave the example of LulaRich.
She also talks about how Blye Faust, another producer of the Duggar docuseries, already did a similar thing with Spotlight, which was beautiful. As such, she believes this is the motivating factor for the team – everyone should be able to speak. As such, they aim to amplify their voices by providing them with a platform. Shepherd notes that this intention was clarified to Amy and Jill during the entire process of filming.
Cori continued by saying that this is what they were in that situation for. So that, the two Duggar cousins can talk freely regarding the things they had no problems talking about. They had no intention of being extremely invasive. Moreover, they worked very hard on interviewing informed by trauma. All these ensured that, at no point, the team would hurt the people who had suffered a lot already.
