Superman

In recent news, DC Studios and Warner Bros announced that David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan had been selected to play the role of Superman and Lois Lane in the upcoming DC movie- Superman: Legacy. The news of the project was first teased last year, with the confirmation from Henry Caville that he would be passing on the cape of Superman to another actor- and the news was finally confirmed in March 2023. Ever since then, an extensive search has been conducted to select the cast, and a few details about the plot have been released as well. Contrary to most of the movies, this film will be heavily focused on the early part of the superhero’s life- while he keeps grappling with his human upbringing, but Kryptonian heritage.

Superman: Legacy To Feature A Younger Superman

As far as the cast is concerned, both Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet were roped in to play the major characters in Legacy. While Corenswet is known in Hollywood circles for his role in The Politician and Hollywood, Brosnahan is famous for her starring role as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel– which recently put out its final season in May. With the casting of the two main characters set, the film is now looking for actors that would portray the arch-nemesis Lex Luthor, and Jimmy Olsen- Clark Kent’s friend.

Legacy will be directed by James Gunn, who had previously directed The Suicide Squad, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. It was revealed previously that Gunn would also be penning the script with Peter Safran.

Gunn had also noted that Legacy would feature a younger Superman- which is why DC Comics had set out a search for a new actor. In December 2022, Cavill announced that he had gone through a meeting with Safran and Gunn, and they had talked about his departure.
