Nearly every video streaming service incorporates DRM (Digital Rights Management) to prevent the distribution of copyrighted content. This can restrict users from easily sharing screenshots of their viewing experiences. However, Netflix is rolling out a new feature that aims to change this limitation.
Netflix launches ‘Moments’ for sharing screenshots from movies and shows
Named “Moments,” this innovative feature allows Netflix subscribers to capture specific scenes from the films or series they enjoy. This not only enables easier revisits to favorite scenes but also introduces an exciting new option: the ability to share these captured moments.
After saving a moment, the Netflix app permits users to share a customized screenshot of that scene on various social media platforms. Each image details the show’s name, episode title, and the precise timestamp of the scene saved.
According to Netflix’s blog post, “You can revisit your Moments anytime on your phone, and if you decide to rewatch the episode or movie, it will start playing right from the scene you marked.” Furthermore, they state, “You can share a Moment as you create it or, from the My Netflix tab, you can choose a scene and tap to share it across all your platforms.”
While watching content on Netflix, simply tap the screen, and the Moments option will appear in the player. Netflix mentions that the feature is being gradually introduced to iOS users globally and plans to extend the Moments feature to Android users in the upcoming weeks.
Be sure to have the most recent version of the Netflix app installed on your device in order to access all the new features.
I genuinely hope that other streaming services like Apple TV+ will adopt a similar feature soon.
