Today, Apple rolled out the initial beta of visionOS 2.2 for developers. This update introduces an exciting feature for Apple Vision Pro users, offering new “Wide” and “Ultrawide” configurations for Mac Virtual Display.
According to Apple, the Ultrawide option allows users to experience the equivalent of two 4K displays side by side. As with most visionOS windows, you can adjust the Mac Virtual Display’s size to your preference, making it either wider or narrower.
Users can manage the new Mac Virtual Display settings through a floating button positioned above the window, allowing for easy toggling between “Normal,” “Wide,” and “Ultrawide” modes.
Moreover, audio playback while using Mac Virtual Display now directly comes from the Apple Vision Pro instead of the connected Mac. The overall display quality also seems to have significantly improved, as highlighted by Apple during WWDC in June.
Currently, visionOS 2.2 is accessible to developer beta testers, with no public beta available from Apple. The full release to the general public is anticipated in December. To utilize the new Wide and Ultrawide settings, you must also have the macOS Sequoia 15.2 beta installed.
