iOS 18.2 Beta 2 Released for All iPhones Ahead of December Launch

The official release of iOS 18.2 is expected in early December. In the meantime, beta testing is ongoing with the launch of iOS 18.2 beta 2 for developers. This version introduces new Apple Intelligence features such as Image Playground, Genmoji, and integration with ChatGPT.

Importantly, iOS 18.2 beta 1 was restricted to iPhone models equipped with Apple Intelligence. In contrast, iOS 18.2 beta 2 is now accessible to all iPhone models capable of supporting iOS 18.

Currently, the Apple Intelligence features are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 variants.

iOS 18.2 beta 2 now accessible

iOS 18.2 beta 2 can be downloaded by developer beta testers with the build number 22C5125e. There are no public beta options available at this moment, and the timeline for future releases is unclear.

On the other hand, iPadOS 18.2 is available for any iPad capable of running iPadOS 18, though Apple Intelligence functionalities remain limited to iPads with M1 chips and newer.

This version of iOS 18.2 includes the second wave of Apple Intelligence features:

  • Image Playground enables quick creation of “fun images” by simply typing, offering two styles: Animation and Illustration.
  • Genmoji allows users to generate custom emojis from text descriptions.
  • Interacting with Siri in iOS 18.2 now includes an option to access ChatGPT.
  • The Writing Tools feature introduces a “Compose” button to assist in generating text related to selected topics, along with a new “describe your change” option.
  • Visual intelligence leverages the iPhone 16’s camera capabilities to help users learn more about their surroundings.
  • The Image Wand tool in the Notes app allows users to transform rough sketches into appealing images and create visuals based on the context of their notes.

Aside from the Apple Intelligence features, iOS 18.2 also includes a redesigned Mail app that categorizes emails into four distinct groups: Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions.
