A former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! campmate has offered a quirky yet clever tip for this year’s contestants. Yvette Fielding, best known as the presenter of Most Haunted, turned heads during her 2015 jungle stint with an unconventional use for her underwear.
Knickers on Your Head: A Genius Hack
During the infamous Ghost Train Bushtucker Trial, Yvette made an impression—not for her ghost-hunting skills, but for donning a pair of black knickers on her head. Far from being a fashion statement, this peculiar move was a defense against jungle critters. “I put my knickers on my head to cover my ears so hopefully nothing would crawl in,” she explained.
In a recent interview, Yvette urged this year’s campmates to embrace the unorthodox tactic. “I know you’ll feel silly, but when cockroaches are crawling in your ears, you’ll be thankful,” she advised. She also stressed the importance of using large, black knickers, humorously noting, “They’ll look like a shiny cap.”
Yvette’s advice may seem bizarre, but it highlights the creativity needed to endure jungle life. From creepy crawlies to unpredictable weather, survival requires thinking outside the box—or in this case, the wardrobe.
Yvette’s time in the jungle was short-lived—she was the third contestant eliminated—but it was memorable. Known for her fearless ghost-hunting exploits, she initially claimed to feel at home in the spooky Ghost Train challenge. However, she later admitted it wasn’t quite her cup of tea.
In addition to her jungle tales, Yvette shared a fun anecdote about inviting I’m A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec to join her on Most Haunted. While Dec seemed game, Ant was less enthusiastic. “I think he was a bit scared,” she teased.
As the new season unfolds, it remains to be seen if anyone takes Yvette’s underwear advice. One thing is certain: jungle survival often calls for a touch of humor and a lot of resourcefulness.
