Beats Solo Buds Wireless Earbuds Receive Their First Firmware Update

On Tuesday, Apple discreetly introduced a firmware update for the Beats Solo Buds, which were launched earlier this year. Continue reading for detailed information about the update and instructions on how to apply it to the earbuds.

Apple Releases Firmware Update for Beats Solo Buds

The latest firmware for the Beats Solo Buds is identified by the build number 3A130 and marks the first update since their introduction. The previously installed firmware was also 3A130.

Apple typically does not share release notes for these firmware updates, so we currently don’t know if any new features have been added. In August, an update for the Beats Studio Pro headphones provided support for multi-user audio sharing.

Similar to AirPods, updating the firmware on Beats headphones is somewhat unclear. Manual installation of firmware updates through iOS devices is not available; instead, the update process occurs automatically when the earbuds are in proximity to a connected iPhone or iPad that is online. However, Android users can conveniently update the firmware using the official Beats app.

The new Beats Solo Buds serve as a budget-friendly alternative to wireless earbuds such as the standard AirPods. While they may lack some advanced features like Active Noise Cancellation, ear detection for auto play/pause, and Transparency Mode, they provide 18 hours of battery life and compatibility with both iOS and Android devices.

Apple lists the price of Beats Solo Buds at $79, but they can be found on Amazon for as low as $49.
