I previously discussed Karo, a new iPhone application developed by Mustafa Yusuf, designed to assist users in creating to-do lists and delegating tasks to others. Starting today, Mac users can join in on the experience with a native macOS version of Karo.
Karo task manager now features a Mac app
Yusuf is the mastermind behind Tasks, another to-do application I’ve previously mentioned on DMN. While Tasks targets more intricate lists and projects, Karo provides a straightforward approach aimed at assigning tasks to others, like friends and family. The app’s design mimics a chat application, making it intuitive to use.
This feature is particularly appealing as I often need to send reminders via message regarding tasks – which tend to get lost amid lengthy discussions.
With Karo, it’s as simple as selecting a contact and starting a “chat.” Every message you write translates into a new task assigned for completion. If the recipient is also a Karo user, they’ll receive the task directly within the app. However, Karo’s functionality extends beyond users of the app alone. For those without it, tasks can be communicated through iMessage, WhatsApp, or any preferred messaging service.
The recipient receives a link that allows them to view and mark the task as done without the need for Karo installation. This capability is particularly beneficial when collaborating with individuals who might not have iPhones. Once the task is completed, you will get a notification, and the status will automatically update in the app.
Initially designed for the iPhone, Karo has recently been updated to include a Mac version. Users will find all the features from the iOS variant in the macOS application, including options for setting deadlines and reminders. Additionally, you can attach files to each task, utilize AI to manage larger tasks, or quickly check your to-do list through Home Screen widgets.
Karo is currently available for free trial on both the iOS and Mac App Store. However, after the trial concludes, it requires either a subscription or a one-time license purchase. It’s important to note that a single subscription is valid for both the iOS and macOS versions.
