Instagram’s New “Trial Reels” Feature Allows Creators to Test Content with a Wider Audience

Meta has launched a fresh approach for creators to evaluate content performance prior to sharing it with followers. The new feature on Instagram, known as trial reels, enables creators to distribute videos to non-followers to measure their responses. This functionality allows creators to amplify the most captivating videos for their active follower base.

Meta has outlined the process for creating a trial reel on Instagram:

To share a reel as a trial, follow the usual steps to create a reel, but before sharing, toggle the option to activate “Trial.” After posting your trial reel, you can locate it on your profile, where it will be displayed alongside any drafts you may have. 

Only you will have access to see that your reel is a trial. It will not be displayed on your profile’s main grid or in the Reels tab unless you choose to share it publicly later, and your followers will not see the trial reel in their feeds or Reels tab. […]

The company further mentions that valuable insights and metrics will be accessible 24 hours after posting the trial reel. Trial reels that exhibit strong performance can be automatically shared with followers after a duration of 72 hours.

The Trial Reels feature itself is beginning with a trial phase. Meta has indicated that the tool is rolling out today for a limited audience, with plans for broader availability to all eligible creators in the upcoming weeks.
