iOS 18.2 Released: Discover Apple’s Complete Release Notes on New Features

iOS 18.1 can be installed on all iPhone models compatible with iOS 18, but some Apple Intelligence features are exclusive to specific models. Here’s the complete list:

• iPhone 16 Pro
• iPhone 16 Pro Max

To update your iPhone, open the Settings app, navigate to General, then select Software Update. The build number is 22C152.

Apple Intelligence (Available on All iPhone 16 Models, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max)

• Image Playground
  • A novel app that allows you to generate playful images using descriptions, concepts, and subjects from your photo collection in various styles.
  • Browse through previews and select while adding concepts to your playground.
  • Select from different animation and illustration styles for image creation.
  • Create images in Messages, Freeform, and compatible third-party apps.
  • Your creations sync across all devices through iCloud in your Image Playground library.
• Genmoji
  • Genmoji enables you to craft custom emojis directly from the keyboard.
  • Genmoji syncs in your sticker drawer across all devices via iCloud.
• ChatGPT integration
  • Access ChatGPT by OpenAI directly through Siri or Writing Tools.
  • The Compose feature in Writing Tools allows you to create content from scratch with ChatGPT.
  • Siri can use ChatGPT for providing relevant answers.
  • An account with ChatGPT is not necessary; your requests will remain anonymous and are not used to train OpenAI’s models.
  • Log into ChatGPT for account benefits, with requests protected by OpenAI’s data policies.
• Image Wand converts sketches and handwritten or typed notes into images within the Notes app.
• The “Describe your change” feature in Writing Tools allows you to suggest alternative rewrites, such as turning text into poetry.

Camera Control (Compatible with iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max)

• Visual Intelligence with Camera Control allows users to gain information about surroundings simply by aiming their iPhone at an object, with options to access Google Search or ChatGPT.
• Camera Control’s two-stage shutter enables focus and exposure locking when lightly pressing the Camera Control button.

Mail

• Mail Categorization organizes your emails for prioritizing the most significant messages.
• Digest view collects all messages from a single sender into one bundle for easier management.

Photos

• Enhancements to video viewing, including frame-by-frame scrubbing and an option to disable auto-looping playback.
• Improvements in navigating Collection views, now allowing swiping right to return to the previous view.
• The Recently Viewed and Recently Shared album history can now be cleared.
• The Favorites album has been added to the Utilities collection, in addition to Pinned Collections.

Safari

• New background images available for customizing your Safari Start Page.
• Import and Export feature allows you to transfer your browsing data between Safari and another app.
• HTTPS Priority automatically upgrades URLs to HTTPS whenever feasible.
• File Download Live Activity displays file download progress in the Dynamic Island and on your home screen.

This update also includes various enhancements and bug fixes:

• Voice Memos now supports layered recording, allowing you to add vocals over an existing track without requiring headphones, and facilitates direct import into Logic Pro (for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max).
• Share Item Location in Find My assists in locating and recovering lost items by securely sharing location details of an AirTag or Find My network accessory with trusted individuals, like airline staff.
• Natural language search in Apple Music and the Apple TV app allows you to describe what you’re seeking using a mix of categories such as genres, moods, actors, decades, and more.
• Favorite Categories in Podcasts lets you choose your preferred categories for tailored show recommendations quickly accessible in your Library.
• Personalized Search page in Podcasts highlights the most relevant categories and curated collections tailored just for you.
• Sudoku for News+ offers puzzles in three difficulty levels available for News+ subscribers.
• Support for the Hearing Test feature on AirPods Pro 2 extends to Cyprus, Czechia, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, Spain, United Arab Emirates, and United Kingdom.
• Support for the Hearing Aid feature on AirPods Pro 2 in United Arab Emirates.
• Pre-market price quotes in Stocks allows tracking of NASDAQ and NYSE tickers before market hours.
• Resolves an issue where newly captured photos might not be displayed immediately in the All Photos grid.
• Fixes a problem where Night mode photos captured in Camera might seem degraded during long exposures (for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max).
