Carpool Karaoke Returns to Apple TV+ with an Hour-Long Holiday Special

The Carpool Karaoke concept originally thrived as a popular segment on James Corden’s late-night show, evolving into a full-fledged multi-season series after Corden’s departure, beginning on Apple Music and later transitioned to Apple TV. Now, it’s making a festive return with a one-hour Christmas special accessible for both Apple TV+ and Apple Music subscribers.

Featuring Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and Chappell Roan in ‘A Carpool Karaoke Christmas’

A Carpool Karaoke Christmas is now live in most regions, following a global rollout on December 20.

This special edition is filled with festive music and showcases three prominent female artists:

  • Lady Gaga
  • Dua Lipa
  • Chappell Roan

Taking the wheel this time is Zane Lowe, the renowned Apple Music Radio host and one of the familiar faces of Apple Music.

It would have been delightful to see James Corden back in the driver’s seat. Although he kicks off the special, he ultimately passes the responsibility to Zane Lowe. Given Lowe’s talent as an interviewer, I anticipate that, despite Corden’s absence, it will still provide an entertaining experience.

Check out the trailer below:

Here’s Apple’s overview of the special:

In this festive episode of “Carpool Karaoke: The Series,” Corden hands the keys to Lowe, a fellow interviewer and reliable voice among today’s leading artists. He drives as Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and Chappell Roan sing beloved holiday classics like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and Wham!’s “Last Christmas,” along with their hit tracks, including Lady Gaga’s “Die With A Smile,” Dua Lipa’s “Houdini,” and Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” As a bonus, Zane Lowe and Lady Gaga also premiered a unique rendition of “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” on Apple Music and all major music platforms.

You can watch the new A Carpool Karaoke Christmas special with an active Apple TV+ or Apple Music subscription.

DMN’s Perspective

The special runs just under an hour, which is longer than the typical Carpool Karaoke episode. However, with a radio host known for his interviewing skills at the helm, and three of the most prominent musical talents currently, I’m confident that the extended runtime will be well justified.
