RCS Messaging on iPhone Expands: Discover All Supported US Carriers

With the release of iOS 18, Apple has integrated support for RCS messaging, a modern protocol that improves the messaging experience between iPhone and Android users. In contrast to SMS, this allows for read and delivery receipts, the ability to send larger files, and typing indicators—features that were not previously available. Initially, RCS messaging was only supported by the top three carriers, but many others have since joined.

This information comes directly from Apple and will be regularly updated as additional carriers become available.

List of Supported Carriers:

  • AT&T
  • C Spire
  • Consumer Cellular
  • Cricket
  • FirstNet
  • H20 Wireless
  • Metro by T-Mobile
  • PureTalk
  • Red Pocket
  • Spectrum Mobile
  • T-Mobile
  • TracFone / Straight Talk
  • US Cellular
  • Verizon
  • Visible
  • Xfinity Mobile

These carriers far exceed those available at initial launch, which were primarily AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. There is also increased support from MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators)—the smaller carriers—but the list is still not comprehensive.

Some notable omissions from this list include Boost Mobile, Mint Mobile, and Ultra Mobile. Boost Mobile remains the fourth largest US carrier, serving over 7 million customers, yet has yet to adopt this feature.

Interestingly, Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile were both purchased by T-Mobile earlier this year, but it appears T-Mobile has not yet enabled this feature for its new sub-brands.

Have you had a chance to experience RCS messaging with iOS 18? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
