Lux, creators of the professional camera apps Halide and Kino, have today shared their ambitions for the upcoming major update for Halide. Below are three exciting features that are currently being developed for Halide 3.0.
What’s Coming to Halide in the Next Major Update
Ben Sandofsky discusses in Lux’s blog the three significant features set for Halide 3.0, anticipated to launch in 2025.
The three features include:
- One-tap color grading
- HDR photography with a unique Halide approach
- Revamped app design
For comprehensive information on these enhancements, check out the full blog post.
Lux’s roadmap for 2025 appears promising, especially following an impressive year in 2024.
The launch of Process Zero in Halide attracted a surge of new users and garnered significant attention. Kino made its debut as a successful professional video application and even received Apple’s iPhone App of the Year award earlier this month.
Introducing New Lux Discord for Early Access and Weekly Photography Challenges
For those eager to get an advance look at the forthcoming updates for Halide 3.0, a newly launched Lux Discord is now available.
As we’ve done in the past when preparing for major updates, we’re reinstating “Early Access” for Halide subscribers. This approach is beneficial for refining our features, and we aim to gather feedback even earlier this time.
We’ve observed indie game developers utilizing community Discords for this purpose, and we’re excited to adopt this strategy (after all, we’re part of the indie community too!). We’re happy to announce the launch of the official Halide+Kino Discord!
You can join the Discord here, which will also host a 2025 challenge featuring weekly photography prompts.
What features are you hoping to see in Halide 3.0? Share your thoughts in the comments.
