Tim Cook has stated that he utilizes his Vision Pro daily. In various interviews this past year, he’s highlighted a particular practice involving the device that plays a significant role in his routine: lying down. After trying this approach myself, I can now share that it can (almost) alleviate the Vision Pro’s most significant drawback.
Lying down makes it easier to overlook the weight of Vision Pro
Recently, I finally decided to purchase a Vision Pro. Since then, I’ve been experimenting with different ways to use the device, taking cues from Apple’s CEO.
Tim Cook has frequently mentioned that home entertainment is a primary use for him, and when consuming content through Apple TV+ at home, he prefers to lie down flat.
As reported by Ben Cohen from The Wall Street Journal:
I asked Cook about his usage. At work, it’s mainly about having multiple windows open for multitasking. However, especially at home, he prefers lying flat on the couch, projecting Ted Lasso and The Morning Show onto the ceiling while gazing into the Vision Pro. “It’s a significantly more enjoyable way to watch something than sitting like a statue in front of a TV,” he insists.
Last night, I put Tim Cook’s method to the test by lying down while watching some TV on the Vision Pro.
As expected, it turned out to be quite an excellent experience.
You can completely unwind, project a massive screen onto your ceiling, and enjoy a cinema-like experience right from your home.
What I particularly focused on was how the Vision Pro felt while I was lying down.
Weight is frequently cited as the most considerable flaw of the Vision Pro. It is also quite pricey, but in terms of the product’s qualities alone, weight is certainly its most significant issue.
While lying down doesn’t entirely eliminate that heaviness—it’s still pressing against your face—it is notably more comfortable than wearing the Vision Pro in an upright position.
It seems Apple’s CEO is onto something with his preference for lying down with the Vision Pro.
How frequently do you use the Vision Pro while lying down? Do you find it more comfortable? Share your thoughts in the comments.
