In November, Apple revealed additional partners for the Apple Card that offer 3% cash back, including Booking.com and Chargepoint. While these are positive additions, it’s important to note that one current partner, Panera Bread, will no longer be part of this arrangement in a few weeks.
Upon reviewing the “Merchant Benefits” section in the Apple Card area of the Wallet app, a new notice has appeared beneath the Panera Bread listing, which states:
Effective February 1, 2025, using Apple Pay at Panera Bread will change from earning 3% Daily Cash back to the standard 2% with Apple Pay.
After February 1st, the opportunity to earn 3% cash back while enjoying meals at Panera will cease, as this was Apple’s exclusive dining partner.
This change is regrettable, but it appears that the financial aspects may not have been favorable for Panera, leading to the decision to end the partnership.
Apple first introduced the 3% daily cash back incentive at Panera in August 2020, resulting in just over four years of collaboration. Additionally, Apple has provided special sign-up bonuses for Apple Card holders at Panera, offering $50 cash back with a minimum spend of $50 there.
While Panera Bread is stepping back, the Apple Card continues to provide 3% cash back at Apple and other selected merchants, including:
- Ace Hardware
- Booking.com
- ChargePoint
- Exxon/Mobil
- Nike
- T-Mobile
- Uber/Uber Eats
- Walgreens/Duane Reade
If you’re looking to take advantage of the 3% cash back at Panera, you have less than two weeks left to do so.
