Apple Intelligence Enhances Apple Music Feature Like Never Before—Here’s How

Although Apple Music hasn’t formally introduced any AI enhancements yet, there’s a recent feature within Apple Intelligence that has surprisingly improved the Music app since the rollout of iOS 18.2. Here are the details.

Image Playground is Apple’s innovative tool designed for generating original images via AI.

This feature is available within a standalone app and is also integrated into several Apple applications such as Messages, Pages, and Keynote, among others. Even third-party apps can incorporate this feature.

While Apple hasn’t yet incorporated Image Playground into Apple Music, there is a notable Music feature that greatly benefits from these AI-generated images.

That feature is playlist creation.

When crafting a playlist in Apple Music, the app allows users to set custom artwork.

I’ve often found it challenging to locate the perfect images to correspond with my playlists, and I’m not particularly fond of Apple’s default art templates that include playlist names and abstract designs.

Fortunately, with Image Playground, I finally have the ideal tool to create stunning playlist art.

How to Create Playlist Artwork Using Image Playground

Image Playground simplifies the process of creating unique artwork that reflects your vision for any playlist.

Just open the Image Playground app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, provide a description of what you envision, and let Apple Intelligence handle the rest.

The AI will generate several new images based on your input, allowing you to select the best one, save it to your Photos library, and then incorporate it into a playlist in Apple Music.

To view and edit a custom playlist in Apple Music, click the three dots in the top-right corner, then select Edit.

From there, you can hit the camera icon to import your creation from Image Playground directly from the Photos app.

Conclusion

When Image Playground was first introduced, I viewed it as an entertaining app but struggled to see its practical applications for myself.

However, Apple Music playlists have proven to be a genuine use case. Now that I’ve begun designing custom playlist art with Image Playground, I can’t imagine being without this feature. Fingers crossed for a future update in iOS 19 that integrates it directly into the Music app.
