iOS 18.3 Addresses a Frustrating Calculator App Issue on iPhone

Apple has officially launched iOS 18.3. While this update may not be packed with features, it introduces several minor AI enhancements along with an important fix for the Calculator app that many users have been requesting.

Repeating operations are now back after being removed in iOS 18

The launch of iOS and iPadOS 18 in September included both significant and minor modifications across various system applications.

Among those updates was the Calculator app.

With this update, Apple not only introduced the Calculator to the iPad for the first time but also made several adjustments to the iPhone version of the app.

Unfortunately, not all of these changes were embraced by users.

One particularly disappointing alteration—now known to be a mistake—was the elimination of a vital function: the ability to repeat calculations using the equals button.

In the past, users could perform calculations and press the equals button multiple times to execute further calculations. This feature served as a convenient shortcut in numerous scenarios.

For instance, if you entered 2 x 2 and pressed equals, the result would display as 4. You could then press equals again to multiply 4 by 2, and repeat this again with another tap of the equals button.

This function was unexpectedly removed in iOS 18, but the good news is that it has been reinstated in the Calculator app with the release of iOS 18.3.

So the next time you access the Calculator app on your iPhone, you’ll find that you can once more hit the equals button repeatedly to conduct new calculations as you please.

Did you miss this feature in the Calculator? What other changes from iOS 18 do you think need fixing? Share your thoughts in the comments.
