Following the announcement on Thursday, Gemini 2.0 Flash is now accessible through the Gemini app on both Android and iOS platforms.
Last week marked the transition of Gemini 2.0 Flash from its experimental phase, having entered testing in December. Google’s new model, crafted for the “agentic era,” surpasses version 1.5 Pro (launched last May) in various areas, including coding, factual accuracy, mathematical capabilities, reasoning, and other performance criteria, doubling the speed of responses. This enhanced speed and performance provide valuable assistance in everyday tasks such as brainstorming, learning, and writing.
In addition, Google is introducing the new Imagen 3 version to the Gemini app, offering improved image generation with more intricate details, textures, and enhanced instruction adherence.
After its initial release on gemini.google.com for both free and subscription users, 2.0 Flash is now being integrated into mobile apps. Its purpose is defined by Google as “For everyday tasks” in the model picker located at the top of your screen.
Gemini 1.5 Flash (previously known as “Get everyday help”) and 1.5 Pro (“Tackle complex tasks”) will still be accessible under the label “Previous model” for a couple more weeks, allowing users to continue their interactions.
Customers of Gemini Advanced will gain access to 2.0 Flash along with additional features, including a context window capable of handling 1 million tokens (equivalent to up to 1,500 pages), Gems (for creation), and Deep Research (continues to use 1.5 Pro). The “plus” menu enables them to upload files and use Drive.
The iOS application received an update today, while users can observe Gemini 2.0 Flash in the stable (version 16.3) and beta (16.4) versions of the Google app on Android. If it’s not available to you yet, try force-stopping the app. The rollout for this model continues this afternoon.
As part of the updates, the Gemini Extensions page on mobile has been enhanced with category filters to enhance browsing experience: Productivity, Communication, Device Control, Travel, Media, and Learning.
