In December, OpenAI revealed a new integration with WhatsApp, allowing users to interact with ChatGPT directly from the Meta-owned messaging application. The company is now enhancing this integration by introducing support for both images and voice messages on ChatGPT via WhatsApp.
Interacting with ChatGPT through WhatsApp
This development has been officially announced by OpenAI and is accessible to users. In addition to sending text messages, users can now upload images for inquiries and communicate with ChatGPT using voice messages through WhatsApp. To begin chatting with ChatGPT on WhatsApp, simply initiate a conversation with the number 1-800-242-8478.
OpenAI aims to broaden the accessibility of ChatGPT, making it reachable to a wider audience, even for those without the dedicated app on their devices. Additionally, in December, OpenAI introduced a ChatGPT phone line in the US, allowing people to interact with the chatbot without internet access using the same number designated for the WhatsApp integration.
OpenAI is actively developing numerous features for ChatGPT, the AI chatbot platform. Recently, the platform unveiled a feature named Tasks, essentially transforming the app into a to-do list with reminders. This feature is currently undergoing beta testing.
Regarding WhatsApp integration, OpenAI has mentioned that linking an OpenAI account to the messaging application is not currently available. However, the company assures that this feature will be introduced “soon” for Free, Plus, and Pro users.
The ChatGPT app can be downloaded for free from the iOS App Store, while the Mac version is available on OpenAI’s official website. WhatsApp for iPhone is also free to download from the App Store.
