Daniel Vallaire, a 70-year-old resident of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, credits Siri for potentially saving his life after he suffered a stroke and became immobile and isolated for nearly three days last July.
During his ordeal, Vallaire crawled from the bathroom to the living room for assistance, drifting in and out of consciousness as he battled for survival.
Ultimately, it was Siri who enabled him to call his daughter, who had just relocated from Florida to California a week prior to his medical emergency.
“I said, ‘Hey Siri, call Victoria Vallaire.’ And she did,” shares Vallaire. “Without Siri, I wouldn’t be here today.”
Broward Health highlighted Vallaire’s incredible story in December:
Recently, Vallaire had an emotional reunion with the first responders and medical personnel who came to his rescue after Siri assisted him in making the call for help. Following her father’s near-death experience, his daughter has returned to Florida.
Apple has historically promoted the “Hey Siri” voice activation feature, and more recently introduced the option to simply say “Siri” to access the virtual assistant.
The Apple Watch offers additional functionalities beyond Siri, such as fall detection and AFib monitoring.
