Apple Might Soon Tackle the Major Flaw in Its Most Ambitious Product Venture

As we approach potential announcements from Apple, an intriguing thought has emerged—particularly in light of the news on Friday.

Mark Gurman has indicated that Apple will provide the press with a briefing on an update to the Apple Vision Pro that day.

Previously, I considered three scenarios:
1. M5 chip introduction – Although no M5 products have been unveiled yet, production is reportedly in progress. Apple could introduce it with Vision Pro, akin to how the M4 debuted in the iPad Pro.
2. Support for Apple Intelligence – Vision Pro meets the RAM requirements, yet all available memory might currently be utilized. An upgrade to RAM might be anticipated.
3. PSVR controller compatibility – Gurman mentions that this feature is on the way, although it may not be particularly groundbreaking.

Now, I want to delve into a fourth possibility: a price reduction. It’s an ideal news subject for a Friday evening.

Apple frequently defends the $3,500 price tag by suggesting that it covers “tomorrow’s technology today.” However, Susan Prescott’s recent remark — “for now, the price is what the price is” — could imply something broader than just the prospect of a less expensive model in the future.

It’s uncommon for Apple to reduce prices before rolling out new models, yet the Vision Pro’s price presents significant challenges. There’s historical precedent: Apple decreased the price of the original iPhone by $200 within months of its launch.

Could Apple lower the Vision Pro’s starting price of $3,499 sufficiently to make a difference? Likely not, but even a small cut is a move forward. They might also rework pricing by increasing storage options at existing price levels.

Nonetheless, with inventory levels not constrained, this remains uncertain.

In any case, I maintain my prediction: there will be some form of price adjustment for the Apple Vision Pro on Friday. It’s speculative, but certainly worth considering.
