This Wednesday, Apple is set to introduce its first new product of the year. CEO Tim Cook revealed the announcement via a tweet last week. While the exact details are still under wraps, there is a strong possibility that the upcoming launch will showcase the new iPhone SE 4, which may come with a fresh name.
New iPhone SE: Most Likely
Based on previous reports, the most anticipated outcome from Wednesday’s announcement appears to be a new iPhone SE model.
To summarize, we expect this device to feature a new 6.1-inch OLED display, an upgrade to USB-C, a 48MP rear camera, Face ID, along with various other modern iPhone capabilities. Additionally, the new iPhone SE will serve as the testing ground for Apple’s first in-house 5G modem.
There have been some vague rumors hinting that Apple might label this new iPhone SE model as the iPhone 16E.
Tim Cook described the upcoming product reveal as “the newest member of the family.” While this statement is not definitive, many believe it leans towards the possibility of the iPhone 16E name being adopted. Only time will tell.
Other Possible Announcements
Other products poised for an early launch this year include:
Though these are more likely to debut later in the spring season, they remain potential candidates for this week’s Apple announcement.
What Not to Expect
While Apple has an array of exciting releases lined up for the first half of the year, many may not take place in early spring.
For instance, the AirTag 2 is expected to launch no earlier than “mid-2025,” according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This update will bring several quality-of-life enhancements, including significantly improved precision tracking.
Apple is also developing a new smart home hub, often referred to as ‘HomePad.’ Initially scheduled for a March release, recent updates indicate it may be pushed back further.
Additionally, the M4 Ultra Mac Studio and Mac Pro are in development, with launches anticipated during WWDC this summer.
