iOS 18.4 Beta 2 Introduces Seven New Emojis

As mentioned last year, the Unicode Consortium hinted at seven new emoji set to be released on platforms such as iOS and Android. With the arrival of iOS 18.4 beta 2 for developers, Apple has now officially rolled out support for these new emoji.

New Emoji Arriving with iOS 18.4

A standout addition among the new emoji is the “face with bags under eyes,” which depicts an extremely weary expression. Additionally, users will have several other unique emoji to choose from.

Here’s the compilation of new emoji introduced in iOS 18.4 beta 2:

  • Face with bags under eyes
  • Fingerprint
  • Leafless tree
  • Root vegetable
  • Harp
  • Shovel
  • Splatter

It’s important to remember that emoji are conceptualized and sanctioned by the Unicode Consortium, after which Apple and other companies each create their variations of the characters.

Another critical point is that only users on the latest software will be able to see the new emoji. This means users operating on iOS 18.3 or earlier will only encounter a blank icon if a message containing new emoji is sent to them from someone using iOS 18.4 or later.

Along with the new emoji, iOS 18.4 also broadens Apple Intelligence support to additional languages. Furthermore, iOS 18.4 introduces a new Food Recipes section in Apple News+, the anticipated Priority Notifications feature, and upgrades to CarPlay. This update is set for public release in April.
