M4 MacBook Air Unveils a Slight Design Refresh

Apple has unveiled a subtle design update to the M4 MacBook Air, making it easily distinguishable from the M2 and M3 models.

According to iCulture.nl, there is a single distinguishing design element for the M4 MacBook Air that stands out, though it may not be immediately apparent.

The key difference lies in the volume controls on the built-in keyboard. The mute keys on the M2 and M3 MacBook Air models feature a simple speaker outline for the mute function. In contrast, the M4 MacBook Air incorporates a speaker outline crossed by a diagonal line for its mute key.

While the previous mute key design provided a clear contrast with the volume down and up keys, the new mute key icon stands on its own without needing to reference the other volume controls.

This design also aligns with the icon Apple utilizes in its software, and the same mute key icon appears on the latest Magic Keyboard for the M3 iPad Air.

The primary design change includes replacing the space gray option with a new sky blue color, currently exclusive to the M4 MacBook Air.
