Skich Unveils Game-Centric App Marketplace for iOS in the EU

Following Apple’s decision to permit sideloading on iPhone and iPad within the EU via App Marketplaces, several alternatives to the Apple App Store have emerged. Now, a new alternative app store, Skich, dedicated to helping users discover fresh mobile games, is set to launch its own App Marketplace for iOS users in the EU.

Introducing Skich Store: A New App Marketplace for Games

With the Skich Store, users can not only download games developed by third parties but can also receive recommendations for new games tailored to their preferences.

The platform highlights that mobile gamers frequently encounter difficulties in finding titles that resonate with their tastes, while developers struggle with standing out amid growing competition. Skich Store seeks to address these issues through a recommendation system encompassing over 240 game genres—14 times more than what the App Store offers—enabling players to discover titles that closely align with their interests.

Moreover, the store features a discoverability interface reminiscent of dating apps. Users can swipe right to bookmark games that pique their interest or swipe left to disregard them. Skich also facilitates game lists and social interactions, allowing users to check what their friends are playing and suggesting.

In addition to featuring games from the Skich Store, the app assists players in finding titles available on Apple’s App Store, thus providing developers with greater visibility.

The Skich Store is now ready for download on iOS through the platform’s official website. However, since it requires sideloading, only users with iPhones and iPads in the EU can install the new App Marketplace. The original Skich app for discovering new games remains available globally on Apple’s App Store.
