Next-generation Apple TV 4K set to debut ‘toward the end’ of 2025
Despite limited rumors surrounding the upcoming Apple TV 4K, we have some insight into its expected release, courtesy of Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.
Earlier this year, Gurman detailed Apple’s ambitious plans for 2025, which includes the launch of a new Apple TV 4K model.
He stated that the next-gen Apple TV 4K is “scheduled for release toward the end of the year.”
Apple typically showcases several significant product launches in the fall:
- New iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods models in September
- Followed by Mac updates in October, occasionally including iPad and other miscellaneous products
In 2024, Apple deviated from its traditional event format for Mac launches, opting instead to introduce its first M4 Macs over three separate days.
Subsequently, those new Macs were shipped to customers in early November.
Gurman’s report suggests that the new Apple TV 4K might be announced in October, with a potential shipping date in November, mirroring the timeline for new Macs on occasion.
This timing would approximately mark three years since the latest Apple TV update.
Anticipated features of the new Apple TV 4K
Currently, there is limited information regarding the new features that Apple plans to include in the next-gen Apple TV 4K.
It is expected to incorporate a new Apple-designed Wi-Fi modem, which may enhance networking capabilities as part of Apple’s growing Home device ecosystem.
In addition, there’s anticipation for the inclusion of some Apple Intelligence features.
While many existing AI features may not seamlessly fit within the tvOS framework, we can expect to see a more advanced version of Siri.
To support these AI functionalities, an upgraded chip, like the A17 Pro or A18, along with enhanced RAM, would be necessary.
Aside from these enhancements, numerous details remain uncertain about the upcoming update.
