iOS 19 Leak Reveals Upcoming Interface Design

As reported by Bloomberg, Apple is currently developing a revamped interface for iOS and macOS that aims to align more closely with visionOS. The exact implications of this change are still unclear; however, a recently leaked screenshot of iOS 19 offers a glimpse of the anticipated design.

iOS 19’s Interface Update: Not a Complete Overhaul

The image shared by YouTuber Jon Prosser depicts Apple’s Messages application. While the overall layout remains familiar, noticeable changes include buttons at the top that are now encircled with a glossy, reflective finish, reminiscent of visionOS. Additionally, the virtual keyboard on the iPhone appears to have undergone minor modifications, featuring rounder edges.

Prosser has indicated that those anticipating a groundbreaking redesign should temper their expectations. Sources suggest that while the interface will indeed incorporate more elements from the Apple Vision Pro operating system, it won’t stray dramatically from the current design.

The YouTuber was among the first to hint at Apple’s efforts toward a new interface for iOS 19, revealing a potential mockup of a novel Camera app featuring floating buttons on the display. This information was further validated by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who mentioned earlier this month that iOS 19 and macOS 16 would represent the “most significant upgrade” to the interface in years.

Additionally, the artwork revealed at WWDC 2025 reflects a strong influence from visionOS, featuring glass-like textures, depth, and shadows.

Apple’s last significant redesign of iOS occurred in 2013 with iOS 7, followed by the introduction of macOS Big Sur in 2020, which featured slightly three-dimensional icons. This has raised speculation about when or if a similar iconography style would appear in iOS. Given the latest information, a redesign seems increasingly plausible.
