Al Roker is back home after being readmitted to the hospital last month, and we’re so happy he’s on the road to recovery!
The Today show meteorologist, 66, underwent an aortic valve replacement in New York City on Nov. 21 and was released from the hospital six days later. But due to complications from surgery—including an infection that led him back into treatment—he had to stay in the hospital until Dec. 11.
Now that Al is home again with his family (and friends!), it seems like he’s doing well: “I’m going to see if I can give him some homework today,” Savannah Guthrie joked during today’s broadcast while addressing his return from medical leave. “But otherwise we’re happy to have you back.”
Al Roker is back home following his recent hospitalization. The Today show weatherman was readmitted to the hospital after suffering complications from surgery, which he underwent on March 18.
Al Roker Thanks God
Roker’s family released a statement saying they were “incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support,” according to People. A source close to the family said that Roker has been “doing better” since his second stay in the hospital.
“I’m going to see if I can give him some homework today, but otherwise we’re happy to have you back,” Guthrie said before Al chimed in, “Thank you all for your thoughts and your prayers, and I’m so incredibly grateful.”
He added: “It was a bad one … It went on for about a month, but I feel great now. I got off the couch yesterday! My wife is smiling again! The kids are back home! So it just feels good. We’re all okay.”
I think it goes without saying that Al Roker is one of the most positive people I know. He has a contagious energy and enthusiasm for life that makes everyone around him feel better. So I’m happy to see that after a recent hospitalization, he’s back at work and doing well.
