Alert: Scam Regarding 00 IRS Stimulus Checks

Recently, there has been significant coverage about the $1,400 stimulus check that the IRS is issuing to nearly 1 million Americans. This is accurate. However, it’s important to remember that thieves and scammers are also keeping an eye on the headlines, and they are hoping you’ll let your guard down.

Here’s the reality: the IRS will NEVER send you a notification about a stimulus check via phone text.

If you receive a text claiming to be from the IRS and offering a $1,400 stimulus rebate, do not click on any links – it is a scam. It may appear legitimate, but the check would automatically arrive in your mailbox. The scammers are solely fishing for your personal information, and you should refrain from clicking on any links that seem to come from the Internal Revenue Service.

Additionally, scammers often enhance their ploys by stating that if you click on the link and provide personal details, such as bank routing numbers, you will receive the funds within 1 to 2 business days. This is completely false.

The IRS does not reach out to taxpayers via text, social media, or email.

As reported by CBS News, these stimulus checks are intended for Americans who did not receive their complete payments during the pandemic.

Stay vigilant and inform your loved ones about this information. Make sure to protect yourself.
