Apple Allegedly Delaying an Unusually High Number of Upcoming iOS 19 Features

As per Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple has allegedly delayed a considerable amount of features originally slated for iOS 19, pushing their release to iOS 19.4, which means we might not see them until spring 2026.

This isn’t surprising, as Apple has previously employed this strategy with iOS 18, where the upgraded Siri was not introduced until iOS 18.4 in the following spring, even though it was showcased at WWDC24 along with other iOS 18 announcements.

Gurman didn’t specify which features have been delayed, but he indicated that the postponements encompass more than just the new LLM Siri that he mentioned last week:

I’ve been informed that an unusually large number of features planned for iOS 19 (beyond the updated Siri) have already been pushed back until spring 2026 (when iOS 19.4 will be released).

For context, Apple is said to be developing a new ‘LLM Siri’ for iOS 19, designed to “perform tasks in a manner similar to ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.” However, this feature won’t launch until a few months prior to the debut of iOS 20. (Feeling nostalgic yet?)

Apple is anticipated to announce iOS 19 at their annual developer event, WWDC, scheduled for early June 2025. The first public iteration is expected to be available for consumers in September alongside the release of the iPhone 17 models, which is set to feature a completely new design – the iPhone 17 Air.
