This coming spring, Apple is set to debut a significant upgrade to the iPhone SE 4, which could create a notable issue within the iPhone product range. It appears that Apple intends to market two older iPhone models—the 15 and 14—at prices higher than the new SE, despite those models being inferior in numerous aspects.
Exciting new features in the iPhone SE 4
The upcoming iPhone SE 4, expected to launch in March, is poised to boast an impressive array of features.

Given the substantial enhancements featured in the SE 4, I anticipate Apple will increase the pricing to approximately $499.
However, this leads to a dilemma: even at this price, consumers will still be paying more for two older iPhone models that are less capable.
The challenging sell of the iPhone 15 and 14
Traditionally, Apple continues to sell its older iPhone models for several years until they are retired. This trend doesn’t apply to the Pro variants but does for the standard configurations.
Currently, Apple’s iPhone offerings consist of:
- iPhone 16 Pro & 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 16 & 16 Plus
- iPhone 15 & 15 Plus
- iPhone 14 & 14 Plus
- iPhone SE
This lineup makes sense in terms of features and pricing.
However, this will change with the introduction of the new SE, which is set to replace the outdated current SE model.
The new lineup in March will feature the iPhone 15 priced at $699, the iPhone 14 at $599, and the iPhone SE 4 at an estimated $499.
On paper, the lowest-priced model will outshine Apple’s higher-priced options in nearly every category.
The iPhone SE 4 will offer modern features such as full Apple Intelligence support, additional RAM, a superior chip, and more.
It’s clear that it will stand out as the top choice among the three iPhones.
Higher-priced iPhones simply can’t compete
As of this spring, the iPhone 15 and 14 will only present a few advantages compared to the iPhone SE:
- The iPhone 15 features a Dynamic Island rather than a notch.
- Both the 15 and 14 have an Ultra Wide camera, which the SE lacks.
It remains unclear why anyone would sacrifice the SE’s advantages for these features.
Even without a price benefit, it’s straightforward to see which option is superior.
