Apple Discontinues iPhone SE and 14 Plus, Removes Additional Product from Website

Today, Apple has unveiled its first device of the year: the brand-new iPhone 16e. Along with the launch of this new model, the company has also phased out two models—the iPhone SE and the iPhone 14 Plus—and taken a third model off its website.

iPhone 16e Introduced, Discontinuing Three Models from Apple’s Range

In anticipation of today’s iPhone announcement, many speculated that the new model would carry the name iPhone SE, as Apple had consistently used this designation for its entry-level device.

However, there were whispers of a potential rebranding, which is confirmed with the introduction of the iPhone 16e.

With the debut of the 16e, Apple is replacing not just the old iPhone SE, but also two other models.

Effective immediately, the following two iPhone models have been discontinued:

The iPhone 14 has also been entirely removed from Apple’s website, although Apple indicates that it is not fully discontinued, as units will remain available through channel partners.

This decision by Apple is intriguing, particularly as the 16e starts at $599, which is notably higher than the iPhone SE’s starting price of $429.

Furthermore, while the 6.1-inch display and overall design positions it as an appealing alternative to the iPhone 14, those who prefer larger devices will now have to invest in the iPhone 15 Plus or opt for a more premium model.

On the upside, the consolidation of three models into the 16e streamlines Apple’s iPhone lineup, making it simpler than before.

Nevertheless, those seeking an entry-level option or a model featuring a Home button will need to explore refurbished options instead.
