On Monday, Apple introduced visionOS 2.4, marking the first update that activates Apple Intelligence features in the Apple Vision Pro. Notably, while this update coincides with the release of iOS 18.4 – which broadens AI capabilities across various languages – Apple Intelligence for Vision Pro is currently restricted to English.
Apple Intelligence for Vision Pro is limited to US English
According to a statement on Apple’s website, the initial batch of Apple Intelligence features for Vision Pro is exclusively available in US English. Consequently, users must configure both the system language and Siri to US English to access these AI capabilities.
When Apple Intelligence was first implemented on iOS, it too was limited to US English. With the release of iOS 18.2, Apple broadened its AI functionalities to various dialects of English. Now, with the latest iOS 18.4, Apple Intelligence has also been extended to languages including French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Chinese, and Spanish.
The Apple Intelligence functionalities available in Vision Pro closely resemble those found on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Features include Writing Tools, Image Playground, Genmoji, and text summarization. Apple has not developed any unique AI functionalities specifically for Vision Pro, and it does not offer Visual Intelligence similar to that of the iPhone.
Given that Vision Pro is currently only available in a select number of countries worldwide, it is understandable that Apple has not prioritized the inclusion of additional language support at this time.
Alongside Apple Intelligence, visionOS 2.4 introduces a new Spatial Gallery app featuring a collection of photos, videos, and spatial panoramas curated by Apple. The update also simplifies the process of sharing a Vision Pro with a guest.
To install visionOS 2.4, navigate to Settings > General > Software Update. It’s important to note that Apple Vision Pro is presently available in Australia, Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, the UAE, the UK, and the US.
