Apple Introduces M3 Ultra Chip with Support for Up to 512GB of RAM

Apple has officially unveiled two new Macs: the M4 MacBook Air and a revamped Mac Studio. The new Mac Studio offers users a choice between the M4 Max or M3 Ultra chips. Here’s everything you need to know about the M3 Ultra chip.

According to Apple’s press announcement:

Apple has introduced the M3 Ultra, the most powerful chip ever developed by the company, featuring the top-tier CPU and GPU within a Mac, double the number of Neural Engine cores, and the largest unified memory available in any personal computer. The M3 Ultra also incorporates Thunderbolt 5, offering over twice the bandwidth per port for enhanced connectivity and extensive expansion options. Built with Apple’s cutting-edge UltraFusion packaging architecture, M3 Ultra connects two M3 Max dies via more than 10,000 high-speed connections, ensuring low latency and substantial bandwidth. This innovation allows the system to function as one unified chip, delivering exceptional performance while preserving Apple’s leading power efficiency. UltraFusion integrates a staggering 184 billion transistors, pushing the new Mac Studio’s capabilities to unprecedented levels.
