Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that Apple is actively contemplating the creation of a more affordable Apple Vision device, which would rely on the computing power of the iPhone, essentially transforming it into a headset that focuses mainly on display and battery functionality.
This concept has been introduced by Gurman previously; however, it was merely one of the numerous concepts Apple was evaluating for potential future releases in the Apple Vision lineup. It appears that this notion now holds increased validity.
The envisioned product would resemble existing devices like the Xreal glasses, which project content from your iPhone onto the glasses’ screens.
This morning, Ming Chi-Kuo announced that the launch of Apple’s budget-friendly Vision headset has been postponed beyond 2027. Thus, there is a strong possibility that this “Vision as an iPhone accessory” model could present a timely alternative. Gurman states that this new offering “would strengthen the iPhone as the nucleus of [Apple’s] product ecosystem.”
Moreover, this device is expected to be much more accessible compared to the Apple Vision Pro. Given the capabilities of the A18 chip in our iPhones, this development could make substantial sense in the near future.
