Apple Launches Public Betas for macOS Sequoia 15.5, iPadOS 18.5, and More

Apple has officially launched the new public betas for its various software platforms. You can now access public betas for macOS Sequoia 15.5, iPadOS 18.5, tvOS 18.5, and more.

Introducing a New Series of Apple Beta Software

This June’s WWDC event will showcase the major new OS releases slated for this fall, including iOS 19 and macOS 16.

In the meantime, Apple will continue to roll out updates for its existing software versions. The latest release now available in public beta includes:

  • iOS 18.5
  • iPadOS 18.5
  • macOS Sequoia 15.5
  • tvOS 18.5
  • watchOS 11.5
  • HomePod 18.5

Unfortunately, there’s currently no public beta for visionOS 2.5, as the Vision Pro has yet to be incorporated into Apple’s public beta program.

Initial testing reveals that visible modifications in these updates are rather slight.

Apart from the introduction of a new menu option to restore the classic Apple Mail interface, not much else stands out in the public beta.

Future beta releases may introduce additional features, but it’s also likely that Apple is concentrating on backend improvements with this update cycle.

As we approach the significant announcement of iOS 19 in June, Apple appears to be dedicating its resources towards ensuring that these updates are as stable as possible, while gearing up for the exciting new versions on the horizon.

If you’re enrolled in Apple’s public beta program, the current lack of remarkable new features may lead you to reconsider installing the updates right away. Any potential bugs might disrupt your device’s functionality without offering significant advantages.

As later betas roll out, the chances of encountering bugs should decline, and there’s always the possibility that more new features could be added.

Have you experienced any changes in macOS 15.5 or other public betas? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
