Although Apple Maps started off on a rocky path, it has undeniably become a lot more appealing over the years. However, its integration with third-party services like Yelp has had its ups and downs. Fortunately, Yelp’s integration is about to improve.
New Feature Empowers Apple Maps Users to Request Quotes for Professional Services
Yelp has recently unveiled a suite of updates included in its end-of-year launch.
Among these updates is one that specifically caters to Apple Maps users, alongside others that are expected to benefit Maps users in the near future.
The first notable addition is a Request a Quote feature for the Apple Maps app, designed to facilitate connections with service professionals.
Here are the specifics:
To streamline the process of connecting with professionals, regardless of where you are searching from, our Request a Quote feature is now included in Apple Maps. You can easily request quotes from professionals across various categories including home services, local businesses, automotive, professional services, and events by clicking the “Quote” button on Apple Maps business pages. This action redirects you to the Request a Quote flow within the iOS Yelp app. For users without the Yelp app installed, the feature takes you to the Request a Quote mobile web experience, ensuring a smooth connection with local professionals. This integration is set to generate even more high-intent leads for businesses originating from Yelp searches.
It is noteworthy that Yelp is enhancing its Apple Maps integration even as Apple has been gradually reducing its reliance on Yelp for certain listings. Apple now utilizes its own thumbs up/thumbs down review system for some entries within Maps.
Additional Enhancements Coming to Yelp
While a number of new features announced by Yelp aren’t specifically targeted at Maps, they are likely to enhance the experience for Apple users nonetheless.
These changes include:
- AI-Driven Review Insights: Introducing insights powered by AI that utilize large language models to assess reviewer sentiment on common aspects such as food quality, service, ambiance, wait times, and drink offerings.
- More Business Attributes: Adding eight new attributes that enhance transparency regarding restaurants’ tipping and payment policies, as well as accepted payment methods to help you plan your expenses before visiting.
- Expanded Reviewer Recognitions: Highlighting a reviewer’s recognitions alongside their reviews to help users easily identify reviewers with expertise in specific business categories.
Several other adjustments are in the pipeline for Yelp’s iOS app, aimed at further improving the experience for Maps users when they switch to the full Yelp interface.
