The New Apple TV+ Lineup May Be Its Best Yet

I’ve been emphasizing this frequently, but Apple TV+ is on a remarkable streak with its shows right now. Recently, I pointed out how the platform had three of the finest series airing simultaneously. However, the current selection might just surpass that impressive milestone. With the three series currently running, Apple TV+ could be presenting its strongest lineup ever.

Apple TV+ continues to achieve new heights this fall

As October commenced, viewers of Apple TV+ were treated to the simultaneous airing of three exceptional shows: Bad Monkey, Slow Horses, and Pachinko.

Traditionally, Apple has aired one significant series at a time, with only rare instances of two shows. Yet, for a fleeting period, three of its standout series had new episodes released concurrently.

Now, it’s happening again—and I believe this wave could be even greater.

Honestly, it’s arguably the best time to subscribe to Apple TV+.

The latest trio of standout shows comprises:

#1: Silo

Silo season 2

If you’re subscribed to Apple TV+, you’re likely familiar with Silo. The eagerly awaited second season has just launched, and we’ll be treated to new episodes of Silo each week until January 17, 2025 (the same day Severance, another highly anticipated series, makes its return).

For those unfamiliar, here’s Apple’s description of Silo:

Silo tells the story of the last ten thousand inhabitants of Earth living in a mile-deep installation shielding them from the toxic environment outside. However, the origins and purpose of the silo remain unknown, and those who seek the truth face deadly consequences. Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer searching for answers about a loved one’s murder, discovering a mystery far deeper than she had ever imagined—leading to the realization that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth might.

I delayed watching the first season longer than others because it seemed too grim for my tastes. However, that couldn’t have been further from reality. Once I finally gave it a go, I was captivated and even read the entire Silo book trilogy afterward. Season 2 has received a wave of critical acclaim, and seasons 3 and 4 are already in production.

Silo is available for streaming on Apple TV+.

#2: Shrinking

You’ve likely heard of Ted Lasso and its creator, Bill Lawrence. But did you know he also created another fantastic series for Apple TV+? In addition to Bad Monkey, his first follow-up to Lasso is Shrinking.

Here’s what Apple says about it:

Shrinking follows a therapist who, while grieving, begins to break the rules by honestly expressing what he thinks to his clients. Ignoring professional ethics and guidelines, he ends up making significant changes in the lives of others—and his own.

The star-studded cast of this heartfelt comedy arguably matches Lasso’s talent level, with the legendary comedian Harrison Ford in the leading role. Like Lasso, Shrinking touches on serious themes amid its comedic undertones, making it a worthwhile watch.

#3: Bad Sisters

Like Silo, Bad Sisters is a series I hesitated to watch for too long. A dark comedy revolving around sisters planning the demise of their brother-in-law? That didn’t sound appealing. However, after hearing countless critical accolades, I finally gave it a try, and it quickly became one of my personal favorites on TV+.

Here’s Apple’s synopsis:

The Garvey sisters, who share a deep bond, have always protected one another. When their brother-in-law is found dead, the insurance company launches an investigation to prove foul play—and the sisters become the prime suspects, each having their own motives.

The second season has just begun airing, continuing through Christmas Day, giving plenty of time to catch up on season one and get into the new episodes.

Bad Sisters is available for viewing on Apple TV+.

Conclusion

While no TV series suits everyone’s taste, the shows Apple has been rolling out this fall are undoubtedly some of the platform’s finest. To have three top-notch series airing at once last month, followed by another potentially even stronger trio shortly after? It’s hard to argue for a better selection in the five years since Apple TV+ debuted.
