Apple One delivers exceptional value by bundling various services for TV, games, music, and more. However, one essential Apple service is notably absent: Books.
Apple Books is losing traction against competitors, and Apple One could offer a solution
For a long time, I’ve relied on Apple Books for my ebook and audiobook needs.
In my experience, the Books app offers a superior user interface compared to rivals like Kindle and Audible, and I have consistently appreciated the work of the Books editorial team.
Nonetheless, it’s clear that Apple Books isn’t thriving.
Amazon commands a vast portion of the market, while Spotify is now making inroads into the audiobook space.
Compounding the situation, Amazon has recently announced that it will provide Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers with access to audiobooks as well.
Previously, I suggested that Apple Books could significantly enhance its offerings by acquiring library content to incorporate into its app.
However, here’s a more straightforward suggestion for Apple:
Incorporate an Apple Books monthly allowance into the Apple One bundle.
Integrating Apple Books into Apple One Premier
There are numerous ways Apple could implement this.
The simplest and most cost-effective approach might be to provide Premier subscribers with access to one ebook or audiobook at a time, as long as they maintain their subscription.
This could entice current Apple One users to upgrade from the Individual or Family plans to Premier. Additionally, for existing Premier subscribers, it would serve as an extra incentive to continue paying the $37.95 fee.
Apple’s crucial services revenue would see a boost, and Apple Books would also benefit, as users would likely begin utilizing an app they may currently overlook.
Moreover, Amazon and Spotify have demonstrated that users are open to viewing books as part of a monthly subscription rather than as one-time purchases. Apple has yet to fully embrace this trend.
Introducing this change would infuse Apple One with valuable new features, potentially keeping monthly subscription payments from users steady.
