Following the launch of Tap to Pay on iPhones for users in the United Arab Emirates and Chile, Apple has now made Apple Pay available in Egypt. This announcement was verified by Apple and comes on the heels of the platform’s expansion to Uruguay last week.
Apple Pay Launches in Egypt
Apple’s Egyptian website was updated on Tuesday to include references to Apple Pay. The company informed local media that Apple Pay is debuting in the country through partnerships with three banks: the National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, and the Commercial International Bank (CIB).
As reported by Egypt Today, more Egyptian banks will begin supporting Apple Pay for their customers in the “upcoming weeks.”
With Apple Pay, users of iPhone and Apple Watch can make contactless payments in stores. They just need to add their compatible credit and debit cards in the Apple Wallet app. Moreover, Apple Pay is also compatible with various apps and websites, allowing customers to check out effortlessly with just a few taps. Additionally, Apple Pay can be used on the web with Mac and iPad.
Currently, Apple Pay operates in over 80 countries worldwide. In November, Apple had already broadened the platform’s reach to banks in Paraguay.
