Apple Pay Financing for Synchrony Launches, with Reward Support Expected Soon

Last week, it was revealed that Apple mistakenly listed Synchrony as a ‘Pay over time’ provider—but that mention was quickly removed. Today, Synchrony financing is officially available for Apple Pay users, with additional support expected in the future.

Pay over time is now accessible with Synchrony, with more updates on the horizon

In a press release today, Synchrony announced its partnership with Apple Pay. Notably, the opportunity to pay later is currently restricted to specific cardholders.

Here are the key points:

Cardholders of the eligible Synchrony Preferred Mastercard, Synchrony Plus World Mastercard, or Synchrony Premier World Mastercard can opt to pay using the standard conditions of their credit card or take advantage of a promotional offer that includes fixed monthly payments… These promotional offers are only accessible to well-qualified cardholders.

Eligible users should now have the Pay Later feature available for Synchrony during eligible Apple Pay transactions.

You can find this option in the Change Payment Method section of the Apple Pay checkout page, where the terms of the payment plan will be clearly presented.

Moreover, Synchrony shared two upcoming updates set to launch later this year:

Synchrony intends to broaden the option for eligible purchases to be paid with fixed monthly payments to a larger number of Apple Pay users across the company’s range of co-branded cards.

Additionally, later this year, consumers will be able to view and redeem rewards from eligible Synchrony-issued cards when checking out online and in-app on their iPhone and iPad using Apple Pay, enhancing the checkout experience with greater flexibility and choice than ever before.

The capability to view and redeem rewards directly within the Apple Pay interface will be a particularly valuable addition when it arrives.
